January 8, 2013.
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here. Too long. But it’s a new year, and there’s always room for new beginnings, so maybe this will be the start of a more regular blogging schedule. Or maybe semi-regular.
Trouble with me is, writing and working with words all day, it’s usually not what I want to do when I get home. I just don’t often have the mental energy for it. I’m tapped out.
The other problem is, whenever I feel like I should blog about something, I feel like it should be something substantial and meaty – which usually means lengthy. Something I’ll need to labour over. And the problem with that is, 1) I don’t often have the time or energy for it, and 2) who wants to read my lengthy blog posts?
So maybe I need to rethink my approach and my attitude toward blogging (blogitude?). Maybe just make things more succinct. More concise slices of life. Entertaining, pithy nuggets.
Pith is good. I could write a 5,000-word essay on the benefits of pith. But that would just pith you off.
Of course, longer, more involved pieces may sometimes be called for, if it’s something I feel strongly about, or a topic that deserves more attention and effort. But I’ll try to post something – anything – here on a more regular basis, hopefully weekly. That’s my goal for 2013.
Okay, so… new year, new blogitude! Happy 2013!
